Get ready for a snoozer!

By Chris | February 16, 2008

Tonight Toronto faces the Bruins again. There is just something that almost every Leafs fan hates when they face Boston. My thinking is it's just a boring game.

Boston plays the old boring Trap style hockey. They don't make many offensive plays, they tend to sit back and wait for the other team to make a mistake.

It's said that Ian White will be back in the lineup tonight and the only reason why he sat out last game was to ensure Anton Stalman didn't loose confidence after a mistake by him cost the Leafs the game the one before.

There is a fair bit of talk going on with Leaf fans about the arrival of Nikolai Kulemin next season. We'll need to wait and see to find out if he will live up to the hype.

By the looks of things we're going to be seeing lots of Vesa for the rest of the season. Paul Maurice stated in a interview that while Toskala is healthy and ready - he will be starting in net. It's a big mystery on what will happen with Andrew Raycroft. Raycroft has settled into the backup role this season after being the number 1 started last. His stats are not doing well either. For both the teams sake and Raycrofts sake, hopefully after this season he will move on to another team, it's hard to see him making any kind of comeback in this franchise.

It's no surprise to hear that the Leafs are sinking. They currently have the fewest number of wins in the entire NHL. They are sitting last in the Eastern conference. They are sitting 2nd last in the entire NHL. They have one of the highest goals against in the NHL. They have the worst road record in the NHL.

While it's no secret that the Leafs are not having the season they would like to have, they are not giving up. Paul Maurice refuses to give up and it seems like the players are behind him. The one upside is if the Leafs do continue and do finish the season similar to where they stand now, they are least will end up with a very good draft pick and hopefully make some roster moves/adjustments before the trade deadline and in the off season.

Maybe the Leafs need to take a page from the Boston book, play really boring hockey, don't take too many chances, play the trap. At least it would be something different and it might just work, they have nothing to lose!
