Leafs fall in Buffalo
February 14th, 2008
After a low scoring 1-0 loss to the Sabres, the Maple Leafs look to rebound tonight against the New York Islanders. Maurice has not announced yet if Chad Kilger will be returning tonight, or if they will stay with a 7 defense strategy.
The Leafs do not seem to be climbing out of the big hole that they put themselves in. With each day and each game the Leafs are closing to facing the harsh reality of facing the 3rd year with no playoffs.
Cliff Fletcher insists even if the Leafs did make the playoffs this year, nothing would change in the grand scheme of things. With the trade deadline coming up, he has openly stated that anyone on the team is up for grabs for the right price. Excluding Vesa Toskala, Anton Stralman and Jiri Tlusty. Also any player with a no trade or no movement clause may not be able to be moved either, depending on if the player decides to waive the clause or not.
It seems that John Ferguson Jr really shot himself and the Leaf organization in the foot with giving away so many no trade/movement clauses. Going forward hopefully we will see no more of these as they seem to cause more grief than good.
